I had wanted to join some kind of geoscientific society or union for several months. Last week, I finally decided to apply for membership of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geowissenschaften (German Geoscientific Society) which is the biggest German geoscientific society and has emerged from the oldest one. The great thing about its student membership is that the first two years are free of cost.
So, I'm a member now and I'm happy to benefit from it because the DGG does not only publish its own magazine but allows discount for geoscientific conventions and a lot more.
